The Coalition of Concerned People of Bauchi State has called on voters to reject vote buying and make independent choices during the 2027 governorship election.
The coalition made the call on Friday while addressing journalists in Bauchi on its mobilisation activities for the governorship aspiration of Senator Halliru Dauda Jika.
The group, through its representative, Hon. Ahmed Yero, also solicited the support of the mass media in educating voters and providing balanced coverage of political activities ahead of the election.
Yero said the coalition believed that voters should not allow material inducements to determine their choice of candidate, urging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process.
He said Senator Jika was currently engaged in consultations and engagements with elders, women, youths and other stakeholders across the state.
According to him, the consultations are part of preparations for the formal commencement of the senator’s campaign activities in the coming weeks.
The coalition further announced plans to mobilise about 10,000 volunteers to participate in the campaign and other lawful electioneering activities.
It said the senator had identified security, education, healthcare, business development and the welfare of vulnerable groups as key areas of concern.
The coalition urged political actors and supporters to conduct their activities peacefully and in accordance with guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
